Job Title: Commercial Credit Analyst
FLSA: Exempt
Function: Commercial Banking
Reports To: Director of Commercial Credit Administration
Purpose: As a member of the Commercial Banking Team, the primary role of the Credit Analyst is to review, spread and analyze financial information in order to assist and support the Commercial Loan Officers in their assessment of the credit worthiness of prospective and existing Member Business Customers and to support Management in the general oversight of the Commercial Loan Portfolio.
Responsibilities:
Works collaboratively with the commercial lenders to provide an independent analysis of commercial borrowers in the identification and mitigation of potential credit risks; this process involves but is not limited to a thorough financial analysis, projecting cash flows and collateral evaluations.
Analyze credit data and financial statements of individuals and businesses to identify the degree of risk involved in lending money or extending credit.
Apply accounting and financial concepts to evaluate identified primary and secondary sources of repayment including global cash flow and identification of the effects of contingent liabilities upon those calculations.
Review and analyze individual’s credit score(s)/histories and discuss the individual’s capacity to support the credit exposure as a guarantor.
Become familiar with commercial loan documentation and the reason for each document.
Create, review, and maintain credit files/loan packages, gather financial information and work with the Commercial Loan Officer and their customers throughout application, approval and closing.
Assist in preserving credit quality and portfolio level risk management including contributing to annual reviews, due diligence tasks, risk rating adjustments, etc.
Assist in the preparation of loan presentations and other reports for loan committees.
Communicate effectively with borrowers and their advisory team (attorneys, CPAs, insurance agents, etc.
)
Ensure the protection of the credit union’s interests in matters such as adequate documentation and adherence to internal lending policies.
Assist with the completion of special projects and perform all other duties as assigned.
Promote and maintain a confidential environment to protect member, employee, and credit union information.
Follow all credit union policies, procedures, and requirements including, but not limited to, those regarding the Bank Secrecy Act in addition to all applicable state and federal laws and regulations.
Create and promote a positive professional image of one’s self and the credit union.
Exemplify the Credit Union’s core purpose and core values.

Requirements:
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in business (accounting or finance is strongly preferred), or related professional/educational experience
Proficient with Microsoft Programs such as Word, Outlook, Excel, and Teams
Underwriting experience desired but not required
Skills, Abilities, and other Requirements:

Demonstrated analytical skills in areas such as cash flow, collateral and financial analysis
Ability to be bonded required
Ability to be registered under the SAFE Act
