The ideal candidate is a highly organized, detail-oriented team player who will oversee the entire order process.
They will qualify vendors, evaluate proposals, and negotiate prices and terms for purchased goods and services.
In addition, the Purchasing Manager will track purchases and follow up with placed orders, verify delivery, approve payment, maintain necessary records, monitor vendor quality, and maintain a current database of vendor information.
Responsibilities
* Procure chemicals, parts and materials for manufacturing
* Negotiate contracts with suppliers
* Develop a supply and production plan to ensure timely delivery to customers
* Create and monitor the performance of the purchasing strategy
* Oversee and support purchasing staff
Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field such as supply chain or procurement and contract management
* Experience in the chemical industry or with chemical purchasing a plus
* Strong understanding of supply chain management concepts
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong negotiation skills
* Comprehensive understanding of MS Excel, MS Word and Syspro MRP software platforms
* Impeccable attention to organization and detail
* Ability to work well with a team
