Position Type/Title: *Non Union, Payroll Coordinator*

Reports to: Director of Finance & Business
*
Purpose:*
Works with limited supervision while providing accurate and systematic payroll services.
* Professional Qualifications* *Required:* * Associates Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business * Knowledge and practical experience regarding basic computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheet applications.
* Ability to maintain payroll records on computer * Ability to work independently and make decisions in accordance with established policies and regulations.
*Preferred:* * Bachelor's Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business * Knowledge and practical experience beyond basic payroll processing * Experience in school accounting and reporting * Experience with budget promotion and control * Principal Duties and Responsibilities:* (These duties and responsibilities are judged to be "essential functions" in terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA) * Responsible for payroll systems coordination.
* Process regular and special payroll runs.
* Responsible for staff member bi-weekly reimbursement pay run.
* Prepares, balances and maintains all payroll records including payroll taxes, retirement contributions, tax deferred purchase payments, deductions, annuities, etc.
for multiple collective bargaining units, hourly employees, administrators and other employees .
* Process completed checks for distribution.
* Responsible for proper coding, account distribution, and taxes.
* Assists with unemployment and workers’ compensation claims and provides reports and information for annual workers’ compensation insurance audit.
* Work with the Business Office in processing all contracts, contract changes, and adjustments as approved by the Board of Education.
* Responsible for all payroll reports, state taxes, federal taxes, unemployment and retirement.
* Responsible for the distribution of monies to annuity companies, health insurance, retirement, union dues, and any other payroll deductions.
* Manage leave time system and entries to leave banks.
* Print employee contracts and total compensation statements.
* Prepare payroll hourly and contract increases * Track and approve unemployment bills.
* Responsible for Benefit Bill processing * Record all deposits made at bank and via EFT * Responsible for Michigan Public School Employees Retirement System (MPSERS) new and terminated employee forms, monthly reports and quarterly reports.
* Provides for the accurate preparation and distribution of W-2s.
* Assist in preparation of budgets and staffing forecasting.
* Assist in year-end procedures including grants accrual, prepaid expenses, staff accrual, etc.
* Assist in the annual audit process as well as any other audits.
* Represent the school district in a positive manner * Know and follow school district policy and chain of command * Regular & reliable attendance * All other duties as assigned * Supervisory Responsibilities:* None.
* Qualification Requirements:* To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
