General Summary This position directs control of budgets for assigned Student Affairs general fund and auxiliary units.
This position works with department/unit directors and others to assess budgetary/business needs, report on deviations from budget, manage the budget process and make budget recommendations.
This position is responsible for financial monitoring and reporting of assigned units and serves as the lead business contact for those units.
The position is responsible for projecting revenue and expenditures, maintaining financial records, and ensuring fiscal integrity of financial operations, transactions and procedures.
The position conducts research and works with individual department heads on issues with financial implications, as well as develops and interprets departmental policies and procedures.
The position provides direct support to the Sr.
Director Business Operations, Associate Director Business Operations, Associate Vice Presidents and the Vice President of Student Affairs through the preparation of monthly reports, financial dashboards, special project assignments, etc.
The position manages HR forms for assigned units within the Division, which has more than 300 employees in nine pay groups.
The position is responsible for coordination of University and division-wide programs and procedures, which may include Graduate Assistantships, Meal/Entertainment/Gift forms, business area website updates, Student Affairs travel program, and COLT (University contract software).
The position participates on committees at the division and University levels.
The position is responsible for Business Operations’ general business functions, including timekeeping, account reconciliations, processing payables, supply ordering, procurement card processes, and processing journal and budget entries.
The position is responsible for business functions for several shared services departments within the Division, including Marketing and Information Services.
Major Duties Plans, allocates and manages budget and accounting functions for assigned units.
Ensures fiscal integrity of assigned budgets and procedures.
Works with department/unit directors and others to assess budgetary needs and guide through budgetary process; may make budgetary recommendations.
Develops and monitors budgets, projects expenditures, reconciles accounts and researches and resolves discrepancies.
Researches and provides financial analysis on issues with financial implications; interprets, recommends and develops policies and procedures.
Creates and maintains financial records, reports, and databases.
Serves as principle fiscal liaison with university and external entities.
May engage in project coordination/participation.
May train and supervise staff.
May administer billing.
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration in accounting, finance or a related field from an accredited institution.
Three years’ relevant experience.
Budget, institutional and fund management experience.
Spreadsheet and office software proficiency.
Accounting systems experience.
Desired Qualifications Experience with accounting, budget, and finance in a University setting.
Proven critical thinking skills.
Strong attention to detail.
Ability to work independently.
Advanced knowledge of and experience working with spreadsheet software (e.
g.
Microsoft Excel).
Strong financial analysis skills.

In person work will be required each week.

Physical requirements and working conditions Office or other indoor work with the minimal physical demands such as occasionally lifting or moving materials less than 25 pounds.
