Michigan Nanny Solutions is now interviewing for the following position:
A Single-Parent Family in Kalamazoo is seeking a Full-Time Nanny/Family Assistant for 45 hours per week!
A visually-impaired single mother is looking to hire an experienced, professional, and self-motivated Nanny/Family Assistant to work collaboratively with her to manage tasks around their home and provide assistance with her 7-year-old son when she has custody.
The ideal work schedule is Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm, for a total of 45 guaranteed hours per week.
The family’s new Nanny/Family Assistant will be able to start right away! The primary role of the Nanny/Family Assistant will be to take over tasks around the home that are difficult for the visually-impaired mother to accomplish, and their assistance will ensure the proper functioning of the household and the family’s personal lives.
Day-to-day tasks will include light housekeeping, grocery shopping, meal planning and preparation, household organizing, running errands, helping schedule and attend appointments, and other household tasks that the mother needs assistance with when the Nanny/Family Assistant is on duty.
They will help keep the home tidy and organized to help the mother navigate and find things easily, will keep the household shelves, fridge, and pantry stocked and maintain organization in those areas, and will be able to implement whatever processes they want to streamline these tasks and make them easy to maintain long-term.
The Nanny/Family Assistant will work on the household tasks during daytime hours when the 7-year-old is at school.
The Nanny/Family Assistant’s secondary role is to assist the mother in caring for her 7-year-old son when he home.
The mom has 50:50 custody, and her son is home every Wednesday and Thursday and every other weekend, so Wednesday, Thursday, and every other Friday the Nanny/Family Assistant help provide after-school care for the boy.
Care assistance will also be needed on snow days, sick days, and school breaks.
The schedule may adjust each summer based on the availability of the Nanny/Family Assistant and the needs of the family.
As part of their Family Assistant duties, they will also help manage texts and emails related to the boy, his school, and activities, help maintain a family calendar with activities, important dates, and appointments, and maintain a task list for his needs to help make sure they are met.
The family does have furry children, one dog, one cat, and two kittens, so Nanny/Family Assistant should have no allergies to pets and will feel comfortable sharing their day and workspace with the family’s pets.
The family’s ideal Nanny/Family Assistant is self-motivated, well-organized, has experience raising children and running a home of their own, and has a natural tendency to know what needs to be done and how to take action to accomplish it without instruction or oversight.
They will take over the daily and weekly routines of the family with ease, help maintain order and organization in the home, and help ensure that the mother and child’s needs are anticipated and met.
They will have a “How else can I help?” attitude, will excel at working as a team with the single mom, and will view and approach their important role in this family’s lives with tenderness, respect, and deep care.
They will be highly reliable, flexible, and trustworthy, as they will quickly become a key part of the family’s on-going success.
The mother is looking forward to having a teammate who is invested in the success of both members of the family, and hopes this person is open-minded, a good listener, patient, respectful, and kind, and will be someone who will support her family’s needs with deep empathy and without judgement.
Because of the nature of the mother’s disability, the family would love to hire a candidate who will be able and eager to help for several years to come.
The ideal Nanny/Family will have at least 3 years of professional childcare experience as well as experience working as a Family Assistant, as a Household Manager, or as a parent who has excelled at balancing the care of their children with care of their home.
The family is willing to consider someone without specific Family Assistant/parent experience if they have a personal or work history of being motivated, accomplishing tasks quickly and efficiently, and needing very little day-to-day input to get work done.
Three years of professional childcare experience as a nanny, daycare employee, or teacher is required.
To help ensure the Nanny/Family Assistant’s ongoing success in their role, the family’s’ new hire will be provided access to the “Becoming a Top Notch Family Assistant” training program through Nanny Care Hub Academy.
