Purpose: The Noon Aide assists and oversees student activity and conduct during the recess and lunch periods.
Required Qualifications: Must be 18 or older, and possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
Must pass a school employee background check.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience working with youth in a play-related setting.
Knowledge of: Techniques for overseeing students in unstructured settings Interpersonal skills to manage student behavior Basic report writing and record keeping skills Interpersonal skill using tact, patience and courtesy Ability to: Learn policies, procedures and regulations regarding appropriate student behavior on grounds or in facilities.
Enforce school rules and regulations.
Work independently in carrying out the duties of the position.
Organize and monitor recreational games and play activities.
Demonstrate an understanding, patient, and receptive attitude toward students.
Understand and follow oral and written directions.
Communicate effectively with students and adults.
Take precautions against exposure to health and safety risks.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities: Work is performed under the general supervision of the Building Principal.
An employee in this position may be called upon to do any or all of the following (These duties and responsibilities are judged to be "essential functions" in terms of the Americans with Disabilities Act or ADA): Communicate all student, building and/or grounds concerns to office personnel.
Support building expectations for student behaviors, rewards and consequences.
Prepare the cafeteria for lunch time: put tables down, liners in trash cans, buckets filled with proper solution for cleaning tables between lunches, etc.
Assist students with lunch trays, condiments, etc.
Supervise the lunchroom during lunch period to create a safe, orderly and enjoyable environment.
Clean up the cafeteria in preparation for afternoon activities in the cafeteria or gym, i.
e.
, clean tables and put away in storage areas, sweep and spot mop floors, remove trash.
Monitor playground area and equipment for safety purposes.
Ensure that there is a variety of play materials/equipment in working order and available for students to enjoy during recess periods, i.
e.
, balls, jump ropes, colored chalk, etc.
Move around the playground to supervise students during play activities ensuring student safety and enjoyment.
Supervise indoor recess during inclement weather.
Maintain order while taking students to and from the playground.
Assist children with playground needs, i.
e.
, coats, hats, boots, bathroom needs, etc.
Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job duty Other duties as assigned Qualification Requirements: To perform the job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

The position requires a moderate amount of physical activity.

This position generally follows the TRCS Academic Calendar.
This position has non-working days during winter, spring and summer breaks as well as designated holidays.
