*Associate Director *
To plan, organize, manage, and supervise all aspects of operations of the SPCA of Southwest Michigan
(SPCA) as established by the Executive Director and Board of Directors of the SPCA of Southwest
Michigan.
*Position Summary:*
The Associate Director is a dynamic liaison between the Executive Director, and the shelter staff.
The Deputy will be expected to uphold the mission of the SPCA and promote its goals,
Partnering with the ED in making decisions for the organization's best interest.
*Duties and Responsibilities: *
_A.
Operational Management: _
1.
Responsible for overseeing all aspects of developing and implementing the spay/neuter clinics, including anticipating and addressing all client concerns, questions, or issues.
2.
Organize regular programs to meet the organization’s mission and the needs of the general public as approved by the Board of Directors.
3.
Ensure the SPCA website is kept current;
4.
Maintain statistics about adoptions and pets available for adoption and upcoming events.
Review and analyze data and make improvement recommendations to leadership to support the organization.
5.
Oversee the donor database, oversee donor and adoption receipts, and manage the bank account for spay/neuter activities, including clinics and the spay/neutering of adoptable animals.
In performing these responsibilities, adhere to all federal, state, county, and local laws and ordinances about animal care and welfare.
_B.
Public Relations and Fund Raising: _
1.
Coordinate activities for aspects of media advertising related to public outreach programs and general public relations about the SPCA of Southwest Michigan Inc.
2.
The Associate Director will be responsible for gathering the articles and reports for the website, ensuring all information is accurate, current, engaging, and timely.
3.
The associate director will research and prepare all grant applications.
4.
Will also assist the Executive director with fundraising activities.
6.
Prepare annual reports that summarize shelter activities.
_C.
Personnel Management _
1.
Responsible for managing the SPCA of Southwest Michigan staff, including employees and volunteers.
This responsibility includes all aspects of the employment cycle, including but not limited to the following:
* Advertising for and reviewing applications for vacant positions;
* Interviewing potential candidates;
* Making recommendations for hiring;
* Establishing employee performance objectives and development programs and writing and delivering periodic performance reviews;
* Managing employment terminations and exits
* Compliance with employment and workers’ compensation laws of the state of Michigan;
* Tracking and managing of personnel compensated absences and overtime;
* Cross-training full-time/regular staff within the SPCA of Southwest Michigan
Oversight of all staff
2.
The Associate Director will develop a job description for all employees.
The Director will coordinate all efforts between employees and volunteers of the SPCA of Southwest Michigan, Inc.
to achieve maximum results.

Responsible for other duties and tasks as assigned by the Executive Director or the Board of _
_Directors.

_Position Requirements: _
Bachelor’s degree or ten years of progressively responsible experience with animal shelters and activities.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $55,000.
