Location BMH Bronson Methodist Hospital Title Clinical Nurse Leader Reporting to the Director of the Emergency Department, the Clinical Nurse Leader manages and assists in the flow of patient access, discharge, and follow-up functions for all patients in the Emergency Room.
Areas of responsibility include: All patients visiting the Emergency Department, with focus on the follow-up and assistance on their pre and post hospital care.
Positive interaction with local community support entities is required as this position coordinates and collaborates with other hospital departments, outside entities, and the Medical Staff.
Monitors the visit and revisit of the Emergency Department patient population and actively participates in process and procedure flows, changes, and implementations in collaboration with the Department Director.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.
Master’s degree in Nursing, and 5 years of progressive acute care nursing experience including involvement in direct patient care, staff education, and problem solving of unit or organizational issues required Will consider applicants who are enrolled and pending graduation for calendar year Licensed RN in good standing with the State of Michigan required.
Certifications as per assigned area.
(ALS, BLS, CCRN, PCCN etc.
) Must complete CNL certification from American Association of Colleges of Nursing within 6 months of hire.
Must be CPR Certified • Exhibits strong analytical, organization and prioritization skills • Displays sound computer skills in multiple software applications • Possesses a high degree of flexibility • Manages and appropriately prioritizes multiple, concurrent projects • Assists with issue identification and problem resolution • Demonstrates strong communication and negotiation skills • Able to work in interprofessional teams • Effective public speaking skills, with both internal and external audiences, is required Work which produces very high levels of mental/visual fatigue, e.

CRT work between 70 and 90 percent of the time, and work involving extremely close tolerances and considerable hand/eye coordination for sustained periods of time.
Involves regularly lifting of bulky or moderately heavy weights (i.

, up to 50 pounds), and occasionally assisting with heavier tasks or expending the equivalent effort in pushing, pulling, or otherwise handling material, equipment, and other objects.
• Clinician: designer/coordinator/integrator/evaluator of care to individuals, families, groups, communities, populations; able to understand the rationale for care and competently deliver this care to an increasingly complex and diverse population in multiple environments.
The CNL provides care at the point of care to individuals across the lifespan with particular emphasis on health promotion and risk reduction services.
• Outcomes Manager: synthesizes data, information and knowledge to evaluate and achieve optimal client outcomes.
• Client Advocate: adept at ensuring that clients, families and communities are well informed and included in care planning and is an informed leader for improving health care.
The CNL also serves as an advocate for the profession and the interdisciplinary health care team.
• Educator: uses appropriate teaching principals and strategies as well as current information, materials and technologies to teach clients, groups and other health care professionals under their supervision.
• Information Manager: able to use information systems and technology that put knowledge at the point of care to improve health care outcomes.
• Systems Analyst/ Risk Anticipator: able to participate in systems review to improve quality of client care delivery and at the individual level to critically evaluate and anticipate risks to client safety with the aim of preventing medical error.
• Team Manager: able to properly delegate and manage the nursing team resources (human and fiscal) and serve as a leader and partner in the interdisciplinary health care team.
• Member of a Profession: accountable for the ongoing acquisition of knowledge and skills to effect change in health care practice and outcomes and in the profession.
• Lifelong Learner: recognizes the need for and actively pursues new knowledge and skills as one’s role and needs of the health care system evolves.
