General Summary:
The purpose of this job is to supervise a variety of public health clinical functions in the areas of immunization, communicable diseases, and hearing and vision.
Manages related public health programs.
Conducts disease surveillance.
Provides community education.
Serves as a preceptor/liaison for medical residents and nursing students.
Serves as a leader coordinating services, working alongside community agencies, to promote health education and preventative health care to the residents of Kalamazoo County.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
Supervises the work of assigned personnel, including assigning and reviewing work, providing guidance, and conducting performance evaluations.
Assists in planning, coordinating, and implementing a wide variety of programs the Health Department provides; collaborates in developing program policies and procedures.
Provides direct care to clients supporting nursing staff, including immunizations, exams, and obtaining lab specimens.
Interacts with healthcare providers and other public health agencies, including state public health representatives, to enact and maintain program guidelines.
Administers the CD, TB control, IAP, hearing and vision, and lead prevention programs, including maintaining communicable disease information and rotation on-call responsibilities as part of a 24/7 operation for reporting communicable diseases of Kalamazoo County health care providers.
Supervises the Immunization/STI clinic, including front desk clerical staff.
Participates in emergency preparedness training and drills; responds to public health emergencies as needed.
Plans and coordinates Flu, Pneumonia, and COVID clinic and Travel Clinic programs; coordinates county flu and COVID vaccination efforts amongst community providers.
Performs related work as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university.
3 to 5 years of related work experience in nursing
Any equivalent combination of training, education, and experience that provides the required skills, knowledge, and abilities
Required Licenses or Certifications
Registered Nurse in the State of Michigan.
