Essential Job Responsibilities:
To secure product for KSW processing.
To produce a high quality, cost competitive product.
Focus of the position is to manage and optimize crops in Texas and other regions that can supply KSW.
However, the role will be a critical asset to crop development efforts in other regions in the US and abroad, as needed.
Manages, develops, and strengthens relationships with Kalsec growers.
Work collaboratively and cross functionally in crop production matters.
Manage communication for crops in the region.
Lead the search and implementation of technologies that will deliver value to Kalsec and Kalsec growers.
These technologies include crop and crop monitoring technologies that can be applied regionally and in a global scale.
Contract acres with our Growers
Paprika, Carrots, Rosemary, Organic, others
Schedule planting times, acres, and varieties
Check, monitor fields, and talk with Growers on crop conditions
Know pests and how to handle
Know labeled products and special uses products
Keep growers aware of what is going on in the industry
Schedule spray times and amounts, shut down
Schedule all harvest
Oversee and secure commercial seed production.
Keep KSW market and crop conditions.
Budget for Field Production
Work with Procurement in Kalamazoo
Regarding Product from KSW farms and commercial growers.
Budget for farm operation
Safety on Farm
Purchase all inputs for farming operation.
Equipment, machinery, fertilizer, herbicides, insecticides, tools and parts
Land and water rights
Manage farming operation.
Production of Paprika, Rosemary, Carrots, Rye, Wheat, and Other
Manage farm personal.
Conservation practices
Water, land, weed, Land preparation, Water management
Rotation of crops, Planting schedule, know and use only Labeled Products, Equipment condition, Down time, Managing contract labor.
Dealing with consultants, and be a licensed private applicator
Stay in contact with the Chile Industry
Know the markets, condition of crops in the Southwestern U.
S.
Know buyers, growers, and processers in the U.
S
Keep up with all the industry news
Work with Breeding Group, Plant Breeder, Breeding Consultants in Kalamazoo, with regards to Planting, growing, observing, and harvesting
Education/Experience:
Required:
Associate degree or Bachelor’s degree or Five or more years of Farming and Agricultural experience.
Excellent Written and Verbal communication skills.
Prior supervisory/management experience
Excellent people skills – ability to motivate a diverse workforce.
Desired:
Experience working in an agricultural processing operation.
Bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering or Supply Chain Management/Logistics
Multilingual is a plus (Spanish)
LEAN Experience.
Equipment Operation:
General Office Equipment (p.

, fax, copier, etc.
).
Extensive knowledge, able to maintain and operate various farm equipment (Harvesters, Tractors, Sprayers, etc.
).
Physical Requirements:
Working in a dusty environment.
Ascending and descending stairs.
Walking through the plant.
Walking fields to check crop conditions.
Working on maintenance of equipment used on farms.
Travel:
Available to travel as required
