Position Summary/Objective
To further the mission of camp by overseeing and supporting counseling staff.
Lead by example as a model youth developer and serve as a point person for behavior management, conflict resolution, and other camper concerns.
Responsible for aiding and guiding the counseling staff and ensuring daily and weekly functions of camp run in accordance with Girl Scout Leadership Experience (GSLE) standards.

Be a role model to campers and staff in your attitude, behavior and following of camp procedures.
Apply youth development principles to empower campers, embrace diversity, aid in competency development, and build connections.
Set a good example to campers, staff, and others in regard to camp procedures and practices.
Assist in the planning and implementation of staff training including leading educational and training sessions for counselors.
Supervise and help train counseling staff to ensure that program needs and goals are achieved.
Provide camp staff with the resources they need to ensure quality programming.
Participate in the development and implementation of program activities for campers within the mission and outcomes.
Actively participate in or facilitate all program areas as needed.
Check in with all counseling staff to check on their needs, progress and provide feedback and mentorship at least once a week.
Be alert to and assist with campers’ physical and psychological needs.
Discuss with camp health director and/or camp director when appropriate.
Handle any type of conflict that may arise between counselors or campers in a professional and cooperative manner.
Assist counseling staff with daily care of campers.
Ensure campers are safe and properly supervised at all times.
Ensure adherence to safety guidelines and maintain high standards of health and safety for campers and staff at all times.
Contribute to verbal and written counselor evaluations.
Assist in the responsibilities associated with upholding State Licensing and American Camp Association regulations.
Assist in the development and lead the facilitation of session-long progressive programming tracks.
Participate as a member of the camp leadership team to plan, direct, and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights, and other all-camp activities and camp functions Participate enthusiastically in all camp activities, planning and leading those as assigned.
Ensure everything that needs to be done is done so that every camper has a great summer at camp.

Previous experience working in an overnight camp setting.
Previous experience supervising staff.
Previous experience with scheduling.

Current certification in CPR/first aid or willingness to obtain.
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in camp programming.
Ability to provide constructive feedback to staff to reinforce or modify behavior.
Knowledge of the Girl Scout program preferred.
Must be willing to become a member of Girl Scouts.
Must be able to pass State and National background check.
Work Environment Operates in a professional camp environment and will live on site.
This role occasionally uses standard office equipment such as computers and phones.
Ability and willingness to work in various activity areas within camp (archery, climbing wall, waterfront, horses, etc) in all types of weather from rain, snow, extreme heat and cold.
Must be able to move around the camp property to assist campers in their activities.
Will spend majority of hours each day standing and interacting with children.
Work Schedule Position requires flexibility with schedule, typical schedule is Sunday through Friday Position requires living on site and working evenings Supervisory Responsibility This position oversees Camp Counselors.
