Job Title: Shipping and Receiving Manager
Reports to: Plant Manager
FLSA: Exempt
Schedule: M-F 7AM-4PM
Salary: Starting at $55,000
Job Summary
The ideal candidate will oversee shipping & receiving operations, coordinate logistics, manage inventory, and ensure efficient warehouse processes.
Lead a team to meet deadlines & maintain quality standards.
Responsibilities
Oversees the daily workflow of the warehouse
Ensures all activity is completed in a safe and professional manner
Performs and oversees that cycle counts and material verification is being completed
Ensures that material is being used by date (FIFO mindset)
Hires and trains new warehouse employees
Coordinates coverage of labor to account for absenteeism and vacations.
Approves timecards and vacation requests for direct reports.
Conducts timely and constructive performance evaluations
Ensures efficient warehouse operations through collaboration and coordination with other departments
Completes all required paperwork, labels, and reports
Works closely with Quality Dept to properly handle non-conforming material
Notifies maintenance staff promptly when there is an issue with equipment, property, or the building
Trains team members and others in the operation of forklifts, scales, MRP system, and any other material handling or logistics equipment
Ensures all required material handling inspection/maintenance logs are completed per SOP
Prepare and place and/or oversee packaging slips and labels on each outgoing shipment
Set up and schedule carriers for material shipment or pick up as needed
Prepare/package UPS shipments
Ability to solve problems for customers and suppliers about shipping routes, delayed items and rush orders
Researches, identifies, and presents new ideas to improve warehouse and material handling operations
Attends and participates in regularly scheduled and impromptu meetings
Ensures compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and company EH&S policies
Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree preferred
At least five years of related experience
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in a similar role
Forklift certified or able to become certified
Excellent people and active listening skills
Ability to gain trust and confidence from others
Organizational and time management skills
Need to be highly organized and efficient
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Proficient in Microsoft Office; familiar with ERP software - NetSuite a plus
Familiarity with ISO 9001 and continuous improvement
Must have a valid driver's license
Fluent in English
Physical Demands
Ability to lift up to 35 pounds repeatedly
Must have the manual dexterity required to do the job
Standing for long periods of time on hard surfaces, lifting and carrying objects, stooping, squatting, bending, kneeling, and reaching
Vision abilities include- near vision, distant vision, color vision, peripheral; vision, depth perception and ability to adjust/ focus
All work is performed in a noisy, non-temperature-controlled environment
Safety composite toed shoes or steel toed boots/shoes must be worn in production areas while production is running; safety glasses are required.
