Location/Division Specific Information This positon is within the Immunodiagnostics Division at Thermo Fisher Scientific.
This position is site based in Portage, MI.
How will you make an impact? As a Technical Applications Specialist II you will provide applications support and training to customers on Thermo Fisher Scientific allergy and autoimmune reagents, instrumentation, software and operation.
You will solve customer escalations effectively and act as a trusted expert to both internal and external customers, delivering an exceptional customer experience and contributing to the overall success of the business.
What will you do? Provides technical assistance via Technical Support Hot-Line, phone/email to customers, both external and internal, involving hardware, software, and system operation.
Evaluates customer inquiries and complaints and provides technical support to resolve them with exceptional follow up and follow through to close the inquiry/complaint to the customers satisfaction.
Guides the investigation of confirmed complaints to determine the root cause of the product deficiencies that lead to a complaint and activities needed for corrective and preventative action.
Provides comprehensive operator training to customers for instrument systems in the portfolio, both in Home-office training lab as well as at the customer site.
Performs performance qualifications (start-up verifications) on newly installed instruments as well as software upgrades.
Takes the lead as a team resource for TS and service to assist in troubleshooting difficult problems and identifying solutions.
Utilizes extensive knowledge of instrument, product and software as a technical specialist lead.
Acts as a Project Lead for Quality Plans for software upgrades, product launches, product recalls etc… Responsible for short notice trips to troubleshoot reagent /instrument/software quality issues and present solution to the appropriate lab personnel.
Proficient in testing ImmunoCAP and EliA markers and Verification Procedures.
Able to discuss discrepancies with appropriate lab personnel.
Assist Marketing, as the Technical Expert, staffing the booth at large conferences such as AACC.
Demonstrates knowledge, understanding and documentation requirements regarding FDA, and other regulatory functions which impact the medical device/VD industry including: Complaint Reporting and Documentation, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), HIPAA, and Medical Device Reporting (MDR).
How will you get here? Education Requires a bachelor’s degree in a biological science.
Medical Technologist or Clinical Laboratory Scientist certification and training desired Clinical laboratory experience highly preferred Experience Requires a minimum of 5+ years of laboratory or related work experience 2+ years User and technical experience with instruments preferred.
2+ years training experience or equivalent Knowledge, Skills, Abilities Mechanical knowledge and abilities regarding instrumentation preferred Demonstrates clear and concise communications and is capable of interacting with a diverse population of internal and external contacts Customer-centric mindset Strong computer skills preferred Ability to travel up to 30% Our Mission is to enable our customers to make the world healthier, cleaner and safer.
