Job Description and Responsibilities: Why intern with MTI? The goal of the Metal Technologies, Inc.
Internship Program is to provide students with assignments that allow them to make meaningful contributions to MTI, the ability to apply classroom theory to real world applications, and be given the ability to demonstrate their capabilities and potential.

What will you be doing? Under the direction of and reporting to the Plant Safety Professional, the Safety Intern/Safety Co-op learns the basics of Safety and responsibilities when working in the manufacturing industry with multiple facilities.
The student will be given various projects, as well as the opportunity to be involved with day-to-day activities of the Safety Team.
This position will focus on projects such as (but not limited to): Working with plant safety personnel to improve plant safety through State and Federal OSHA compliance as well as advanced safety programs and development of safe operating procedures.
Working with established plant safety teams.
Keeping all plant personnel informed of safety updates/information by developing notices/postings and update bulletin boards on a regular basis.
Participating in idea development for ergonomic improvements to work practices.
Determining training needs to create and deliver safety presentations and training modules.
Utilizing software to track team member and plant injury performance and developing job hazard analyses for production jobs.
Bringing new ideas for improving overall safety and health of employees.
What will you need to be successful in this position? Basic understanding of State and Federal health and safety regulations.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with a wide variety of individuals within MTI Fluent in Microsoft Office software products (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Ability to manage multiple tasks at a time Ability to work self-directed and individually Demonstrate organizational and project management skills Understand and can meet deadline-oriented business transactions Requirements: What will your working conditions look like? The Safety Intern will split their time 50/50 between the office and on the floor at our facility.
What are the education and experience requirements? Must be enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited college or university studying toward a degree in Occupational Safety & Health or other safety related discipline.
Must have completed the sophomore year in the major program of study Must have and maintain a minimum G.
