*Job Title: *Electrical Controls Engineer *FLSA: *Exempt *Salary: $85,000* *Schedule: M-F 7am-3pm* *Job Summary* We are seeking an entry-level electrical controls engineer to work in our engineering department, building and troubleshooting electrical control systems for our processing equipment.
The successful candidate will be required to assist with analyzing design requirements, generating schematic diagrams, creating bills of material, developing PLC and HMI application software, and verifying/validating designs through simulations and testing.
Commissioning and troubleshooting of equipment on our shop floor and at customer facilities as required.
*Responsibilities* * You will be assisting with the implementation and configuration of new automation systems, upgrading older machinery to new control platforms, and upgrading existing manufacturing lines in varied industries.
* Perform software installation, I/O testing and debugging of PLC and HMI software.
* Participate in product and system design reviews, machine testing, installation, and start-up.
* Utilizing managed switches and Ethernet/IP topology.
* Confirms control system functionality, including appropriate safety compliance, by designing and/or executing test procedures.
* Works with Fanuc and Siemens CNC machines, troubleshooting and programming Fanuc robots.
* Prepares and/or reviews electrical controls drawings; collaborates with related engineering teams to evaluate components, materials, and suppliers.
* Provides information to manufacturing, process, and other engineering disciplines by answering questions and requests.
* Keeps equipment operating by performing periodic audits; troubleshooting breakdowns; requesting supplies; defining and reviewing preventive maintenance plans; calling for repairs; and implementing process improvements.
*Qualifications* * The ideal candidate is self-motivated.
* BS EE Degree or proven, equivalent electrical/electronic control experience * Experience with industrial electrical/machine control system design * Experience working in Controls Engineering positions in a manufacturing environment.
* Strong emphasis on automation * Experience in Allen-Bradley PLC and HMI programming and products * Strong verbal and written communication skills and ability to represent the company in a professional manner.
* Excellent problem solving and time management skills.
* Possess both electrical and mechanical aptitude.
* Process Control equipment experience * Ability to work with other engineering and manufacturing personnel to resolve problems on the plant floor.
* Knowledge of VFDs and coordinated drive systems (AB Power Flex, Siemens SINAMICS, etc.
) * Knowledge of motion control systems, including servo applications * Advanced knowledge of PLC programming: * Knowledge of network and communication protocols * Knowledge of HMI systems * Works with Fanuc and Siemens CNC machines, troubleshooting and programming Fanuc robots.
* Works with Keyence vision systems and their closed loop feedback into upstream equipment *Requirements:* * BSEE/BSEET * 0-5 years' experience * Knowledge of AutoCAD, wiring schematics and proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
* Experience with PLCs, AC/DC drives, HMI, communications (Ethernet, Controlnet) are desirable, but not mandatory.
* Additional consideration for applicants with NEC, UL, CE, and CSA code experience, Wonderware, web-handling, or PID temperature controls experience *Physical Demands* While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk, hear, stand, and walk.
This position requires bending, kneeling, and stooping occasionally.
The employee must occasionally lift or move items up to 35 pounds.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Some duties are performed in a non-temperature-controlled environment.
Duties will be spread between office and shopfloor activities.
