Title: Shipping & Receiving Clerk
Department: Production
Reports to: Manufacturing Supervisor
Position Summary
Assembles orders and prepares goods for shipment.
Determines the best methods for packing each item to prevent damage and minimize costs.
Records shipment data, including weight, lot codes, and number of pieces/pallets.
Maintains knowledge of HazMat labeling requirements and ensures that all HazMat products are handled to meet standards.
Receives and unpacks materials and supplies.
Reports damages and discrepancies for accounting, reimbursement, and record-keeping purposes.
Verifies and maintains records on incoming and outgoing shipments.
Arranges for outgoing transportation as needed.
Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the shipping and receiving field.
Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Works under general supervision.
Essential Job Functions Fill customer orders efficiently and accurately according to the standard operating procedure, including retrieving the product, packaging, verifying appropriate paperwork, labeling, quantity, and product, and inserting the appropriate information in the system to complete the order.
Maintain knowledge of HazMat labeling and paperwork requirements and ensure that each order is packed, labeled, and shipped in accordance with those requirements.
Verify label accuracy and apply labels to the correct product and shipping container/pallet.
Lift finished products and packed items, manually or using hoists.
Use manual and electric pallet jack and pallet shrink wrap machine as needed.
Move raw materials and stocked product to appropriate shelves when production and QA testing is complete.
Receive trucks, unload, and check in merchandise, verifying against packing slips.
May provide raw material sample to QA for testing, as necessary.
Maintain clean/safe work areas, machines, equipment, and product packaging according to safety and SQF standards (proper GMP’s and sanitary procedures).
Assist with inventory process when scheduled.
Assist in packaging as instructed.
Maintain and organize adequate shipping supplies, including box materials.
Ensure machinery is serviced and functional.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum requirements Education: High school diploma (or GED) or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
Work Experience: 0-2 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Shipping & Receiving experience preferred Industry Knowledge: Knowledge of flavor industry preferred Winning Behaviors, Competencies, and Skills Accountability – Ability to accept responsibility and account for his/her actions.
