*About the role:*
We have an exciting opportunity to join the Occupational Safety and Industrial Hygiene team as a *EHS Safety Manager – Construction and Capital Projects*.
Operating within a pharmaceutical manufacturing environment, this position is responsible for facilitating the development, implementation, and monitoring of Safety Programs associated with our BSI client's extensive capital program with a focus on construction and contractor safety.
This is to be achieved in compliance with the various State statutory requirements and the client Corporate EH&S guidelines.
The prime objective of this position is to work as part of a team to coordinate and support all Occupational Safety activities associated with construction safety and contractor management and help ensure the client instill its vision of a zero injury mindset in all our capital programs.

*Safety Manager Responsibilities:*
* Capital project safety systems management
* Maintain a close relationship with program managers, global engineering, site engineering, prime and sub-prime contractors to ensure site safety on all Kalamazoo constructions sites to ensure the requirements of EHS management system are implemented.
* Support regular inspection of all active construction sites
* Monitor corrective actions associated with capital projects to ensure timely risk remediation
* Participate in / support the capital program to ensure safety is a core value at every stage of the project life cycle from preliminary concept / design / constructability and pre-start
* Oversea the contractor management program
* Lead and develop the cultural improvement program for capital projects to ensure a Zero-Injury mindset in all who work with us
*Education/Qualifications:*
* Tertiary qualification in the appropriate EHS discipline (extensive experience will be considered in lieu of formal qualifications).
* Minimum 10 years of Safety experience preferably operating within the construction, capital projects
* Experience in successful delivery of cultural change programs is highly desirable
* Able to communicate with workers at all levels.
* Dynamic attitude with an ability to lead and motivate.
* Comfortable making good decisions in a timely manner.
* Able to prioritize and work under pressure.
* Demonstrated experience in applied problem-solving tools and root cause analysis (Taproot, Six Sigma or similar).
* A broad understanding of the pharmaceutical industry and good manufacturing practices is highly desirable.
* Well-developed computer, written and verbal communication skills and strong interpersonal skills.

The salary for this position can range from $90,100 to $123,860 annually; actual compensation is based on various factors, including but not limited to, the candidate’s competencies, level of experience, education, location, divisional budget and internal peer compensation comparisons.
