About the Role
The Quality Technician will provide experience and expertise regarding inspection methods, correct use of metrology, calibration, and support for routine inspection of received materials, and components, in-process inspection of fabricated parts and assemblies and final inspection of products prior to shipment.
Provides non-routine support for engineering development activities and evaluation of customer returned product as necessary.
The Quality Technician will be responsible for oversight and leadership within the Quality Lab overseeing daily receiving, in-process and final inspection activities, the correct use of metrology and ensuring good working order and calibration of measurement instruments at Sterling Industries LLC.
DUTIES:
Participates in the development of inspection plans for receiving, in-process and final inspections.
Leads and conducts inspections as necessary in support of quality lab operations and overall operations requirements.
Provides training and guidance to inspector staff and operations personnel regarding the correct use and care of metrological instrumentation, storage, and maintenance.
Inspects metrology for cleanliness, status of calibration, and general good operation.
Guides and makes recommendations regarding the sourcing of new metrology and methods for ongoing improvement of technology.
Manages rejections of material directly with supplier including NC and CA reporting requirements as necessary.
Oversees calibration at Sterling Industries, LLC.
Experience operating an optical comparator, CMM and/or a portable CMM is preferred.
Basic GD&T understanding is preferred.
Assist in PPAP and First Article Inspections as necessary.
Good documentation and records control practices required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
High School Diploma plus 2-3 years relevant experience.
Ability to correctly read/interpret engineering drawings, experience with measurement instruments, the correct use, proper care and calibration of these devices.
Basic GD&T understanding is preferred.
Familiarity with ISO 9001 or ISO 13485.
Must possess good organizational skills and be able to multitask in a busy environment.
Strong team member with the ability to communicate and train others.
