SUMMARY: The Preconstruction Project Engineer (PE) provides project management and administrative support on one (or more) projects.
They will assist in but not limited to scope writing, bid solicitations, pre- construction meetings walkthroughs, and post bid interviews.
The PE receives, reviews and distributes submittals, shop drawings, and keeps accurate and updated construction documents.
This position assists Preconstruction Department.
This position reports to the Preconstruction Manager.
This is a full time FLSA exempt position.
This position requires 40 work hours per week with the ability to work more if required.
This position requires daily travel to one or more jobsites.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: · Pre-Construction Activities o Review designs and bidding documents, evaluate contractor bids.
o Schedule, coordinate and attend pre-bid, bid opening and post-bid meetings.
o Understand customer specific requirements o Assist in preparing bid documents including development of scopes of work.
o Creates and updates phasing plans and site logistics.
o Creates and issues project submittal logs.
o Responsible for review, input, and distribution of bidder’s requests for information (BRFI’s).
o Solicit proposals / bids from subcontractors and vendors for outsourced projects.
o Ensure project documents are complete, current, and stored appropriately; organization skills o Coordination of trades.
o Coordinate outside consultants with Owner and Project Team, including consultant selection and communications.
REQUIRED COMPETENCIES: · Process Management o Understands how to combine tasks into an efficient workflow o Designs processes/practices that can adapt quickly to changing organization, business and market demands o Can simplify complex processes o Knows what to measure in a process and how to measure it · Attention to Detail o Pays close attention to the specifics and details of every aspect of project assignment o Uses careful, thorough, consistent and applicable methods, keeping flexibility and change in mind when necessary o Checks and edits own work or gets peer review to ensure accuracy · Relationship Building o Builds and maintains relationships that support and improve team effectiveness · Analytical Thinking/Problem Solving o Works to clearly understand an issue o Identifies cause and effects o Anticipates, identified and resolves problem o Develops criteria for optimum solutions MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS: · Bachelor’s degree in construction management, Project Management or Engineering; or years of equivalent experience.
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite products (outlook, word, excel, MS Project, power point etc.
) · Must be familiar with estimating concepts and ability to interpret drawings and specifications.
· Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
· Self-motivated team player with mechanical aptitude.
· Demonstrate strong interpersonal skills and the ability to clearly articulate ideas both verbally and in written communication.
· Demonstrate ability to be productive, positive, and proactive in a fast-paced work environment.
· Ability to see the overall requirements of client satisfaction without losing sight of details.
